Communion Prayer

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

The type of bread that Jesus would’ve actually used is called Matzos bread/crackers. It’s an unleavened bread, but it looks like a cracker. Many of you won’t have this on hand, so you can use anything like regular crackers, goldfish, or just bread. Please don’t get hung up on needing it perfect. It’s the act of faith by taking communion that God sees. For the wine, you can use wine, grape juice (kosher if you have it), or water. Again, He sees your act of faith and your heart. You can ask God to cleanse and sanctify the items you have to do communion.

Remember this is your time with the Lord to thank and praise Him for His sacrifice on the cross. You can say these short prayers or continue with your own. Jesus not only covered our sins, but His blood is our restraining order against the devil. Jesus won the battle for us. We don’t fight from a defense position, but from a place of VICTORY! So, pray for the things you want and decree God’s word…His promises from a position of VICTORY not defeat!

Hold up the bread– Father God, please forgive me of my sins, make me new. God, thank you for sending Jesus who not only lived for us, but died for us. Your Son who came in the body of a man, gave Himself up so we could live! Thank You that His body was raised back to life. Thank You that because of grace of Jesus we have real life, and we can live forever in You, amen. Eat the bread.

Hold up the cup– God, what an incredible picture this is of Your love for us. You allowed Your only Son to shed his blood so that we could be in a fully restored relationship with You. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice for my sins, amen. Drink the cup.
